Evaluating the current roster, Sooners Wire profiles the current players with a look at junior corner Woodi Washington.

The former four-star cornerback out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, started his career trying to find his footing. After sitting most of his freshman year, Woodi Washington has become one of the Sooners’ top cornerbacks. He bounced around a bit to start his career, but it’s become abundantly clear his home is at cornerback.

He’ll look to lead the Sooners’ defensive back room as he enters his third year as a starter. He’s quiet, but his technique speaks for itself. He’s one of the Sooners’ best-man coverage defenders.

Depth Chart Overview

Washington is slotted to be one of the Sooners’ starting cornerbacks entering the 2022 season. Washington’s first objective will be to stay healthy as he’s missed games in every season.

There’s little question about what Washington can do on a football field when healthy. He looks to be a leader under Ted Roof’s new defense, and as long he remains on the field, he’ll be a highly productive number one corner for the Sooners. Behind him on the depth chart is unknown, but it’ll be hard to imagine anyone but Washington taking snaps the first game of the season as long as he’s healthy.
